19th April – Poetry Workshop with Liz Niven
Join Liz Niven, award winning Scottish poet for a day long group Poetry Workshop which takes inspiration from the idyllic environment and surrounds that inspired Burns.
Niven’s work includes Stravaigin (Canongate/Luath Press) Burning Whins andThe Shard Box (Luath Press, Edinburgh). Public art collaborations in stone and wood in Dumfries & Galloway. New Writing Scotland.

3rd May – Traditional Music Day
Keeping Burns’ musical legacy alive, Ellisland Farm is hosting a free Traditional Music Day with something for everyone. Celebrating and promoting traditional music and song in Dumfries and Galloway.
Workshops, performances and talks to include:
- Family-friendly song workshop lead by Claire Hastings
- Come and Try Clarsach workshop and performance lead by The Clarsach Society (Dumfries and Galloway)
- Workshop on Burns, song and Gaelic melodies lead by Wendy Stewart and John Howieson
