We are developing a Masterplan for Ellisland – thanks to support from the Holywood Trust, South of Scotland Enterprise and the Architectural Heritage Fund. The £30k project will look at how best to repair and restore the buildings.
The Masterplan will also look at how to adapt the buildings to deliver new experiences (such as catering and creative learning for young people). It will identify ways to generate sufficient income. This will help us to safeguard the site and better display the precious collection, which includes original manuscripts and items belonging to Burns and Jean Armour. We want to make Ellisland a first-class visitor destination which helps the local economy. We will look at how to make Ellisland more accessible to different groups of people and enhance wellbeing through outdoor activity.
After a tender process, Delfinity Consulting was awarded the contract. Delfinity have pulled together a team of specialists to work with architects on outline plans which will point the way ahead.
Once the Masterplan is finalised the community will have a lot of input. We will be holding engagement events to hear your views.
