Web Managers Report

A considerable contribution was made by the Friends of Ellisland to the Homecoming Year of 2009,
with a variety of concerts and many other varied events.

The Ploughing Match and Open Working Day, held in September 2009, was a particular highlight with competitors coming from far and wide with horse drawn ploughs to work the fields at Ellisland. There was also tractor ploughing, the vintage machinery club and many more attractions. Visitor numbers were high and the weather was warm and sunny. Our patron, Joanna Lumley, spent the day with us and made a good job of ploughing a furrow. We are grateful to her for her patronage and for helping to make the day a great success.

Our last ‘Wee Scots Nicht’ of 2009 was well attended and the St. Andrew’s night went extremely well with a host of local talent. There was also a Farm Supper which was enjoyed so much that we were asked to make it an annual event.

February 2010 saw our two Burns suppers, one on the 6th and the other on the 13th. Our speakers on both nights kept everyone entertained with their interesting toasts and knowledge of Robert Burns, his songs and poems. Friends of Ellisland will be organising more events for this coming year, so make sure to visit our Forthcoming Events site.

If you are on of our regular visitors, we look forward to you continued support and to those who have not yet paid a visit to Ellisland farm, let me say that there is a warm welcome awaiting you and we will strive to make your visit a memorable one.

I hope you enjoy my report and will update it later in the year.
